Last week saw the arrival of our brand new Account Manager, Sam Collins, and it’s fair to say she’s already gotten off to a pretty incredible start! Not quite content with helping the team move office, she’s now written a blog post detailing her week…
My first week at OVG…
After deciding to make the move west to the one city as rainy (if not more) as Teesside, I can happily say that clear skies are on the horizon.
Having joined OVG at the end of January as an Account Manager, I have enjoyed a very busy and informative first week. From the word go I was welcomed by the team with open arms and so far no one has struggled to understand my accent – which is always a bonus!
I mean is it really that hard to understand the Smoggy accent? Come on!
My first few days consisted of spending time with the many different departments that I’ll be working with day-to-day in the office, such as Social, Search, Content, SEO and Development.
Coming from a less digitally focussed background of working in Design, Print and Marketing, there was a lot to learn and many notes to be taken, but I really enjoyed learning from the different teams on how they work first-hand.
Before long I had immersed myself into the team and got to understand the ins and outs of the OVG family, as well as which accounts I’ll be handling moving forward.
Meeting new clients
Finding out which clients I would be working with was really exciting, so I made sure to take my time and get accustomed to each one of them.
Through exploring their monthly reports and stats, as well as speaking to the teams implementing their campaigns, I feel well versed with what to expect and look forward to getting started!
Expanding my knowledge base
The middle of the week was more about increasing my knowledge base; digging deeper into Link Building and SEO by watching training videos and taking part in some training activities with our CTO.
I also met with a potential client that may be coming on board later this month, in addition to enjoying a lovely lunch at The Grill on New York Street to celebrate my first week – exciting times ahead!
Before I got too settled it was time to pack up the office and prepare to move from our temporary residency to a plush new setting at Universal Square. Friday pretty much consisted of running up and down stairs and packing every car/van/automobile we could get hold of, before finally getting back to business.
To say it’s been an experience is a bit of an understatement, but I’ve had a great first week and learnt so much in such a short period. It was nice to move with everyone to the new office and it very much feels like I’m starting this new OVG chapter with everyone.
I want to say a big thanks to the team for making me feel so welcome and I’m excited for a new challenge!
