Four days, four countries, two OVG Directors!
Yes, Sunday 11th September marked the beginning of the Big Charity Drive and we caught up with our MDs Paul and Justin once they returned to the office to find out about their European experience.
The Big Charity Drive was set up by the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to raise funds for the Helipad Appeal. Having a helipad installed on the roof will allow patients to be transported via helicopter to the hospital quickly and efficiently so that they can receive high quality treatment.
Setting off from their hometown in Disley, Paul and Justin drove to Dover and got on the ferry to Calais. From there they made their way around Bruges and Chemnitz (which incidentally is the twin town to Manchester).
There were two other teams, We Are Adam and San-iT, and although the drive started out as a competition, our very own Paul and Justin kindly helped We Are Adam when their car broke down – aren’t they good eggs?
Here’s what they had to say about their experience:
Justin: ‘Paul and I have taken part in the Big Charity Drive before so we were somewhat prepared for it this time around. I was happy to discover that the route was different, and this time we were able to visit Germany. I’d say Bruges was a particular highlight for me, especially in the evening. There are some beautiful scenic views and great bars to check out. It reminded me a lot of Venice. I would also like to thank MK Car Solutions for generously donating a car to us.’
Paul: ‘I was thrilled to represent OVG in the Big Charity Drive and, as an ambassador for the charity, I really wanted to do them proud. I was impressed with how well organised the entire event was. RMCH really did an amazing job of preparing everything and I enjoyed getting food one evening in Bruges with the lads from We Are Adam. Everyone really put their all into it and I’m delighted that Justin and I got the opportunity to take part.’
